Karolien was born in Belgium in 1998 and finished her studies in Urban contemporary at the Fontys school for fine and performing arts 2 years ago in 2020. Since october 2020 Karolien Wauters is a freelance dancer and artist and has received two awards for her graduation solo named ‘Sweet and Source’ at the Contact.energy 2020 international festival in Germany. The public award and the 2nd place, given by the jury. The performance will continue to perform in several ways for the coming years.

Currently Karolien is a regular dancer in the project Motus Mori Museum from choreographer Katja Heitmann. She started working with Heitmann when she was still in school and continuously works with her.

Since the beginning of 2022 Wauters is working with the Jordi Vidal Company, creating and researching different elements in the project called Temporality.

Since June 2021 Karolien and her friend Anneleen Nickmans founded ANUTKA Collective. A gathering for all the forms of projects they do together. Starting with the performance ‘Purple Phase’ which premiered in November 2021 and continuously develops. This creation was made possible with the support of Passerelle VZW, a platform for young artists that is based in Belgium.

In april 2022 Wauters started working with Kato Mergan. A young, Belgian choreographer were she will continue to work with in the further to expand and research the performance ‘No brain, no glory, no body, same story’.

From on november 2022 Karolien will start working with the Junges Ensemble Stuttgart (JES) as a dancer for the new production ‘Leichte Turbulenzen’. This performance will continue to play for the next two years.

In general Wauters puts her focus on different projects with several themes, styles, researches and choreographers because she is eager to learn and have different impulses at the very start of her career.
